Robust Classification of Largely Corrupted Electronic Nose Data Using Deep Neural Networks

YoungJoon Yoo et al.

Summary: This paper proposes two deep neural network-based functions for identifying gases: a denoising auto-encoder and a convolutional neural network-based gas-classifying model. Experimental results show that the denoising auto-encoder provides strong restoration capability, and the convolutional neural network successfully discriminates gas data samples with a classification rate over 95%, even with 50% data loss.

Development of a portable electronic nose based on a hybrid filter-wrapper method for identifying the Chinese dry-cured ham of different grades

Kang Qian et al.

Summary: In this study, a portable e-nose equipped with a smartphone was developed to identify different grades of Chinese dry-cured ham using GC-IMS technology and a hybrid filter-wrapper method for feature optimization. SVM algorithm yielded the best prediction results, with an accuracy of 96.06% and a time consumption of 17.32 s. The filter-wrapper method performed well in optimizing feature data and enabling clear identification of ham grades.

Temporal Multi-Graph Convolutional Network for Traffic Flow Prediction

Mingqi Lv et al.

Summary: This paper introduces T-MGCN, a deep learning framework for traffic flow prediction that considers spatial, temporal, semantic correlations, and global features. It utilizes a multi-graph convolutional network to model correlations between roads, a recurrent neural network to capture temporal patterns, and a fully connected neural network to fuse various correlations. Experimental results show an improvement in prediction accuracy of approximately 3% to 6% compared to the state-of-the-art baseline on real-world traffic datasets.

Lung cancer detection via breath by electronic nose enhanced with a sparse group feature selection approach

Bei Liu et al.

Summary: This research aimed to differentiate lung cancer patients by analyzing VOCs through an E-nose platform, with 87 subjects enrolled for data collection. A sparse group feature selection method was applied to improve classification performance significantly, while statistical analysis showed that age and smoking habit had no significant influences on classification results.
