Miniaturized Ultra-Wideband Bandpass Filter With Ultra-Wide Stopband Using π-Type Unit With Inductive Loading on Integrated Passive Device

Bao-Guang Liu et al.

Summary: A new miniaturized UWB bandpass filter with ultra-wide stopband using pi-type unit on IPD is proposed, providing high frequency selectivity and advantage of UWS. The compact BPF design based on non-periodic response of pi-type units shows two transmission zeros near the passband and a prototype with wide fractional bandwidth is fabricated.

On-Chip GaAs-Based Spoof Surface Plasmon Polaritons at Millimeter-Wave Regime

Kai-Da Xu et al.

Summary: This research introduces a GaAs-based wideband spoof surface plasmon polariton (SSPP) waveguide with super compact size for millimeter-wave regime, and demonstrates on-chip examples of SSPP waveguide and SSPP-based bandpass filter (BPF) operating at different frequencies. The good agreement between simulations and measurements validates the propagation characteristics and implementation of the proposed SSPPs.

High-Overtone Thin Film Ferroelectric AlScN-on-Silicon Composite Resonators

Mingyo Park et al.

Summary: This study presents the first demonstration of thin-film ferroelectric Aluminum Scandium Nitride (AlScN)-on-silicon composite resonators, achieving high-overtone resonance modes with a high figure of merit (FoM). The research shows that the addition of a passive Si device layer underneath the thin piezo-stack results in improved quality factor (Q), structural robustness, and overall FoM. High k(t)(2) values and FoM are reported for the TE resonant frequency, showing a significant improvement compared to the co-fabricated AlScN-only FBARs.

60-GHz Compact Dual-Mode On-Chip Bandpass Filter Using GaAs Technology

Kai-Da Xu et al.

Summary: This paper presents a 60-GHz compact dual-mode on-chip bandpass filter using gallium arsenide technology, with an LC equivalent circuit model constructed to analyze the transmission poles and zeros. A prototype was fabricated and tested, showing good agreement between simulated and measured results. The measured performance includes a center frequency of 58.7 GHz, a bandwidth of 18.4%, and a minimum insertion loss of 2.42 dB within the passband, with a chip size of approximately 0.158 mm x 0.344 mm (excluding feedings).
