Mutation spectrum of the OPA1 gene in a large cohort of patients with suspected dominant optic atrophy: Identification and classification of 48 novel variants

Nicole Weisschuh et al.

Summary: Autosomal dominant optic atrophy is genetically heterogeneous, with most cases caused by pathogenic variants in the OPA1 gene. This study identified potentially pathogenic variants in 36.8% of patients, focusing on splice variants validation and classification of novel variants. The findings contribute to the genetic diagnostics of patients with suspected dominant optic atrophy.
