Modified reduced-volume intensity-modulated radiation therapy in non-metastatic nasopharyngeal carcinoma: A prospective observation series

Qiaojuan Guo et al.

Summary: The study confirmed the efficacy and feasibility of modified reduced-volume IMRT in treating nasopharyngeal carcinoma, with promising survival outcomes and local control rates in 471 patients. The study shed new insights on the necessity of CTV1 delineation and optimal margin of CTV2 in NPC treatment.

Influence of tumor necrosis on treatment sensitivity and long-term survival in nasopharyngeal carcinoma

Shao-Bo Liang et al.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the impact of tumor necrosis on treatment sensitivity and long-term survival in patients with NPC treated using IMRT. The results showed that necrosis of the total tumor served as a predictor of treatment sensitivity and poor prognosis for NPC patients, and lymph node necrosis significantly improved the prognostic value of the current N classification criteria.

Long-term Therapeutic Outcome and Prognostic Factors of Patients with Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma Receiving Intensity-modulated Radiotherapy: An Analysis of 608 Patients from Low-endemic Regions of China

Jing Huang et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the long-term outcome and prognostic factors of patients with NPC who received IMRT, showing satisfactory long-term survival outcomes. T stage and N stage were found to be important prognostic factors for NPC patients. Patients with T4 or N3 diseases had significantly increased distant metastatic rates and poor survival time.
