Sodium+/taurocholate cotransporting polypeptide as target therapy for liver fibrosis

Ahmad Salhab et al.

Summary: NTCP expression is correlated with fibrosis severity, suggesting modulated bile acid trafficking as an important step in LF pathogenesis. Antagonizing bile acid uptake may be a therapeutic strategy for preventing disease progression.

Dark and bright side of targeting fibroblast growth factor receptor 4 in the liver

Raffaella Maria Gadaleta et al.

Summary: FGFR4 and its ligand FGF19 play crucial roles in cellular processes, including the development of liver tumors. FGFR4 inhibitors are a promising treatment option for HCC, while using FGF19 analogues to activate FGFR4-KLOTHO represents a novel therapeutic strategy for other liver diseases.

Clinical characterization of NTCP deficiency in paediatric patients : A case-control study based on SLC10A1 genotyping analysis

Li-Jing Deng et al.

Summary: NTCPD, caused by biallelic mutations of the SLC10A1 gene, is a newly described disorder with genotypic and phenotypic characteristics that require further investigation. This study identified two novel pathogenic mutations and observed common clinical features such as hypercholanemia in affected patients. Symptomatic treatment led to favorable clinical outcomes for NTCPD patients.
