Efficacy and safety of endoscopic full-thickness resection in the colon and rectum using an over-the-scope device: a meta-analysis

Peiwen Li et al.

Summary: This study identified and analyzed 9 relevant publications regarding endoscopic full-thickness resection for colorectal lesions. The pooled rates of technical success, full-thickness resection, and R0 resection were high, while rates of safety outcomes such as bleeding, perforation, and postpolypectomy syndrome were relatively low. The results suggest that EFTR is effective and safe for nonlifting, invasive lesions, but further research is needed to explore its role in larger colorectal lesions and specify its indications.

Endoscopic full thickness resection in the colo-rectum: outcomes from the UK Registry

Summary: Endoscopic full-thickness resection (eFTR) is a useful technique with a high success rate in treating lesions not previously amenable to endoscopic therapy. Although technical difficulties may arise, complication rates are low and outcomes are acceptable, making eFTR a viable alternative to surgery for some specific lesions.
