Controllable synthesis of nitrogen-doped carbon containing Co and Co3Fe7 nanoparticles as effective catalysts for electrochemical oxygen conversion

Xiaodong Luo et al.

Summary: In this study, nitrogen-doped Fe/Co bimetallic electrocatalysts were prepared using adjusted metal-organic frameworks, showing excellent oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) activity and methanol crossover tolerance. The desirable performance is attributed to the uniform distribution of Co3Fe7 active sites, electron density modification, and hierarchical pore structure with large surface area.

Fundamentals and applications of char in biomass tar reforming

Jie Ren et al.

Summary: In recent decades, the focus of research has shifted towards producing value-added chemicals from biomass through gasification into syngas for further conversion into various products. Heterogeneous catalyst design plays a crucial role in reducing tar formation during biomass gasification, with char and char-supported catalysts emerging as effective alternatives due to their chemical inertness, cost-effectiveness, and excellent pore structures. The modification and functionalization of char through doping and metal addition show potential for enhancing the activity of these catalysts in tar reforming, highlighting the importance of sustainable fuel development and green practices.

Catalytic performance of hydrotalcite-like-compound-derived Ni-metal alloy catalyst for toluene reforming with gasoline engine exhaust model gas as reforming agent

Mii Betchaku et al.

Summary: Reforming of toluene with model exhaust gas was conducted at 773K using Ni-M/Mg/Al (Ni 12 wt%, M = Fe, Co, Cu). NiFe/Mg/Al showed higher performance in terms of activity, cokedeposition resistance and stability compared to Ni/Mg/Al. Ni-Fe/Mg/Al demonstrated high coke-deposition resistance and suppressed substrate decomposition and CO disproportionation.

H2S-resistant CeO2-NiO-MgO-Al2O3 LDH-derived catalysts for steam reforming of toluene

Shanmukapriya Jayaprakash et al.

Summary: In this study, H2S resistant catalysts for steam reforming of toluene were investigated on CeO2-NiO-MgO-Al2O3 (Ce-NMA) catalysts with varying Ce loadings. Among all the catalysts, 15Ce-NMA showed the most stable performance in the presence of H2S poison and demonstrated lower carbon deposition compared to others. XPS analysis revealed that the presence of ceria improved the reducibility of the catalysts by facilitating electron transfer to nickel.
