Comparison of the regenerability of Co/sepiolite and Co/Al2O3 catalysts containing the spinel phase in simulated bio-oil steam reforming

Chunsheng Wang et al.

Summary: The study revealed that in simulated bio-oil steam reforming experiments, the regenerability of Co/Al2O3 catalyst was not successful in restoring its activity, while the Co/SEP catalyst showed better regeneration performance, mainly due to the alleviation of Co sintering.

Insights into the oxidation-reduction strategy for lignin conversion to high-value aromatics

Shanshuai Chen et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of key factors on the reductive conversion of oxidized lignin to aromatics, exploring pathways and mechanisms. Under moderate hydrogen pressure with metal-acid catalysts, an advantage in lignin conversion was found. A catalyst with both hydrogenolysis and hydrolysis activity was essential for efficient lignin depolymerization.

Catalytic waste Kraft lignin hydrodeoxygenation to liquid fuels over a hollow Ni-Fe catalyst

Xiaomeng Dou et al.

Summary: The depolymerization and demethoxylation of Kraft lignin (KL) was achieved using a novel H-NiFe2O4 catalyst under mild conditions, with high liquid product yield and minimal coke yield. The catalytic performance of H-NiFe2O4 benefits from the synergy of Ni and Fe, promoting lignin depolymerization while suppressing condensation reactions. Plausible reaction pathways of KL depolymerization over H-NiFe2O4 are discussed, demonstrating the potential of this catalytic system for efficient conversion of KL into liquid fuels.
