Utilization of waste concrete powder with different particle size as absorbents for SO2 reduction

Dongsheng Liu et al.

Summary: The study investigated the use of waste concrete powder (WCP) as an alternative desulfurization absorbent for controlling SO2 in waste flue gas, with promising results suggesting a high desulphurization efficiency above 98%. The Ca2+ ions release process of WCP particles was found to be well described by Fick's first law and pseudo-second order model, providing new insights for future research in this field. The study offers an innovative solution for the disposal of WCP and introduces a new and efficient material for SO2 controlling in waste flue gas.

The effect of particle size on removal of SO2 from flue gas by MgO absorbents

Mengxi Zhao et al.

Summary: MgO nanofluids show better desulfurization effect in wet desulfurization process compared to MgO slurry by improving desulfurization efficiency. The density and viscosity of MgO nanofluids increase with concentration, but decrease with temperature. Properly reducing particle size can enhance the desulfurization efficiency of MgO absorbent in removing SO2 from flue gas.

Summary: Limestone-gypsum wet flue gas desulfurization (WFGD) is the most effective desulfurization technique. By coupling WFGD with condensation desulfurization using a condensing heat exchanger (CHE), significant energy savings can be achieved while improving desulfurization efficiency.
