MOF based engineered materials in water remediation: Recent trends

Richelle M. Rego et al.

Summary: With the increasing demand for freshwater, materials such as metal organic frameworks (MOFs) have gained attention for their ability to remove contaminants from water sources. However, the poor processability and fragility of MOFs limit their practical applications in water treatment, prompting efforts to improve their stability and processability for real-world use.

Highly-sensitive and fast detection of human telomeric G-Quadruplex DNA based on a hemin-conjugated fluorescent metal-organic framework platform

Vahid Javan Kouzegaran et al.

Summary: A simple fluorometric method was developed for the selective detection of picomolar quantities of H-Telo G4 DNA using a fluorescent cerium-based metal organic framework conjugated with hemin. The detection and quantification of H-Telo was achieved through adsorption/incorporation of hemin molecules on the pores and surface of Ce-MOF, leading to fluorescent quenching and restoration upon addition of H-Telo. The developed probe showed a LOD of 665 pM, LDR of 1.6-39.7 nM and excellent selectivity towards H-Telo, providing a simple, novel and superior platform for the selective detection of H-Telo G4 DNA.

Target specific aptamer-induced self-assembly of fluorescent graphene quantum dots on palladium nanoparticles for sensitive detection of tetracycline in raw milk

Syed Rahin Ahmed et al.

Summary: This study presents a novel sensing strategy for the rapid and label-free detection of tetracycline using aptamer-induced fluorescence fluctuation of graphene quantum dots and palladium nanoparticles, with a limit of detection of 45 ng.mL(-1). Additionally, a new synthesis method for positively charged palladium nanoparticles and green synthesis of GQDs directly from graphite has been developed. This proposed strategy offers an efficient way to detect low traces of TCs and a new technique for the development of aptamer-based sensors.
