Dietary fiber intake is inversely related to serum heavy metal concentrations among US adults consuming recommended amounts of seafood: NHANES 2013-2014

Jiayue Guo et al.

Summary: This study examined the relationship between dietary fiber intake and blood heavy metal concentrations in adults consuming adequate amounts of seafood. The results showed an inverse relationship between dietary fiber intake and serum cadmium and lead levels among US adults meeting the seafood consumption recommendations. Asian adults had significantly higher levels of mercury, cadmium, and lead in their serum compared to non-Hispanic White adults, and age was positively related to serum heavy metal levels. Further research is needed to investigate the mechanism of action.

Cadmium induced BEAS-2B cells apoptosis and mitochondria damage via MAPK signaling pathway

Xiangyu Cao et al.

Summary: Cadmium pollution can decrease cell viability, mitochondrial membrane potential, and increase ROS accumulation, leading to apoptosis of BEAS-2B cells through the activation of mitochondria-mediated intrinsic apoptosis pathway and MAPK signaling pathways.

Caffeic acid phenethyl ester mitigates cadmium-induced hepatotoxicity in mice: Role of miR-182-5p/TLR4 axis

Rili Hao et al.

Summary: Cadmium-induced liver damage was significantly reduced by caffeic acid phenethyl ester (CAPE) through multiple pathways, including alleviation of oxidative stress, inhibition of apoptosis, and suppression of inflammation. This study provides novel insights into the treatment of cadmium-related diseases through targeting miR-182-5p/TLR4 axis.

Nerolidol improves cardiac function in spontaneously hypertensive rats by inhibiting cardiac inflammation and remodelling associated TLR4/NF-κB signalling cascade

Yueh-Min Lin et al.

Summary: Nerolidol has been shown to ameliorate hypertension-induced cardiac injuries by targeting the TLR4/NF-kappa B signaling pathway, leading to reduced inflammation and oxidative stress, and providing effective cardioprotection. Echocardiography analysis demonstrated improved cardiac functional characteristics in hypertensive rats treated with nerolidol, highlighting its potential as a cardio-protective agent against hypertension-induced cardiac remodeling.

Antagonistic effect of VDR/CREB1 pathway on cadmium-induced apoptosis in porcine spleen

Zhang Yiming et al.

Summary: The research indicated that cadmium exposure can induce apoptosis in pig spleen by promoting the absorption of toxic trace elements and inducing oxidative stress. The mechanism of cadmium-induced apoptosis is closely related to the VDR/CREB1 pathway, where VDR plays a role in maintaining mitochondrial-related endoplasmic reticulum membrane structure stability to counteract cadmium toxicity.

Cadmium induced inflammation and apoptosis of porcine epididymis via activating RAF1/MEK/ERK and NF-κB pathways

Yue Zhang et al.

Summary: This study revealed that cadmium exposure caused inflammation and apoptosis in epididymal tissues. The activation of the RAF1/MEK/ERK pathway and subsequent up-regulation of NF-kappa B played a crucial role in these processes. This research provides valuable insights into the reproductive toxicity of cadmium.
