Laminar flame speed determination at high pressure and temperature conditions for kinetic schemes assessment

F. Halter et al.

Summary: The experimental difficulties of obtaining flame speed data under specific thermodynamic conditions may be overcome by using the constant volume method for spherically expanding flames. By integrating experimental and numerical approaches, key reactions can be identified and kinetic schemes can be tested over a wide range of pressure and temperature domains with good accuracy. The use of a new experimental device allows for simultaneous recording of pressure and flame radius, providing valuable information for improving combustion processes.

High-Speed Hydroxyl and Methylidyne Chemiluminescence Imaging Diagnostics in Spherically Expanding Flames

Pradeep Parajuli et al.

Summary: Understanding the chemical kinetics involved in hydrocarbon flame ignition and propagation is crucial for developing efficient and clean combustion devices for aerospace applications. This study utilized high-speed chemiluminescence diagnostics to characterize the spatial and temporal flame front and primary combustion zone in methane-air and methane-ethane-air flames, providing insights into the effects of equivalence ratio on electronically excited radicals like OH* and CH*. High-speed imaging techniques allowed for direct flame-speed determination and observation of flame characteristics under various conditions.
