Rational orbits around 4D Einstein-Lovelock black holes

Hou-Yu Lin et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the periodic orbits of timelike particles around 4-dimensional Einstein-Lovelock black holes, revealing that these rational orbits have different energy levels compared to Schwarzschild black holes during the inspiral stage of detecting gravitational waves, depending on the sign of a coupling constant. These findings offer clues for distinguishing 4D-EL black holes from Schwarzschild ones using orbital dynamical approach in strong gravitational fields.

Globally visible singularity in an astrophysical setup

Karim Mosani et al.

Summary: This study investigates the global visibility of singularities as an end state of the gravitational collapse of spherically symmetric pressureless clouds. It shows the existence of a set of specific parameters that lead to physically strong globally visible singularities. This paper aims to demonstrate that globally visible singularities can form in astrophysical setups under appropriate circumstances.

Parameter estimation of hairy Kerr black holes from its shadow and constraints from M87

Misba Afrin et al.

Summary: The study reveals that the size and shape of hairy Kerr black holes are influenced by the parameter l(0), resulting in more distorted shadows compared to Kerr black holes. Estimating the parameters associated with hairy Kerr black holes through the investigation of ergosphere and shadows provides insights into the differences between these black holes.

Shadows and rings of the Kehagias-Sfetsos black hole surrounded by thin disk accretion

Guo-Ping Li et al.

Summary: In this paper, the shadows and rings of the KS black hole in deformed HL gravity were carefully investigated using the ray-tracing method. The results show a decrease in certain parameters and an increase in effective potential with an increase in the omega parameter, with direct emissions dominating the total observed intensity.

Shadows of parametrized axially symmetric black holes allowing for separation of variables

R. A. Konoplya et al.

Summary: The study explores asymptotically flat black holes in a general metric theory by constraining the metric class with additional symmetries, leading to the separation of variables in the Hamilton-Jacobi and Klein-Gordon equations. It is found that the black-hole shadow depends on a few deformation parameters if the metric functions change moderately near the black hole. Additionally, the shadow of a rotating black hole in the Einstein-dilaton-Gauss-Bonnet theory is well approximated when terms violating the separation of variables are neglected in the metric.

Shadows and negative precession in non-Kerr spacetime

Parth Bambhaniya et al.

Summary: The shadow is not only a property of black holes, but can also be cast by naked singularities. Novel features of the shadow of naked singularities differentiate them from black holes observationally. Negative precession of bound timelike orbits and the simultaneous presence of shadow in deformed Kerr naked singularity spacetime may indicate the presence of a deformed Kerr naked singularity.

Shadow cast by a rotating black hole with anisotropic matter

Bum-Hoon Lee et al.

Summary: This study investigates the shadow cast induced by a rotating black hole with anisotropic matter, deriving a Killing tensor representing the hidden symmetry and analyzing the complete integrability of geodesic motion. The study also examines the effect of the anisotropic matter on shadow observables and concludes that it impacts one side of the black hole being brighter.

QED effect on a black hole shadow

Zezhou Hu et al.

Summary: In this study, the shadows of static black holes with magnetic monopoles and neutral black holes in magnetic fields were investigated using numerical backward ray-tracing method. The relation between shadow radius and coupling constant for black holes with magnetic monopoles, and the linear relation between eccentricity and coupling constant for neutral black holes in uniform magnetic fields were obtained. It was found that shadow curves can be well approximated by ellipses in most cases, except under certain conditions of strong magnetic fields and observer positions. The study was extended to include a neutral static black hole surrounded by a current loop.
