Evidence on clinical relevance of cardiovascular risk evaluation in the general population using cardio-specific biomarkers

Aldo Clerico et al.

Summary: Recent studies have shown that high-sensitivity cTn methods can accurately measure cardiac troponin concentrations and are associated with cardiovascular event risk. Early treatment of individuals at higher cardiovascular risk may slow down myocardial remodelling and heart failure progression.

Clinical relevance of biological variation of cardiac troponins

Aldo Clerico et al.

Summary: High-sensitivity immunoassays for cardiac troponin I and cardiac troponin T have been recommended as the gold standard laboratory methods for detecting myocardial injury and diagnosing acute myocardial infarction. These methods show favorable biological characteristics and analytical performance, significantly improving the accuracy of the diagnostic process for patients with acute coronary syndromes.
