Motile cilia and airway disease

Marie Legendre et al.

Summary: The article discusses the role of regulated airway epithelial development in the differentiation of motile ciliated cells in the human respiratory tract, as well as ciliary dysfunction caused by genetic mutations. Advances in understanding respiratory epithelial development and ciliary biology have the potential to improve disease diagnosis, management, and family counseling.

Long-term differentiating primary human airway epithelial cell cultures: how far are we?

Zuzanna Bukowy-Bieryllo

Summary: Human airway epithelial (HAE) cellular models are widely used in respiratory research, with the conditionally reprogrammed cell (CRC) models showing promising results for longer in vitro proliferation of HAE cells. The limitations of primary HAE models due to their limited proliferative lifespan have led to the exploration of CRC HAE cultures as a useful alternative.
