Biorthogonal quantum criticality in non-Hermitian many-body systems

Gaoyong Sun et al.

Summary: The perturbation theory of fidelity susceptibility in biorthogonal bases for arbitrary interacting non-Hermitian many-body systems with real eigenvalues is developed. The quantum criticality in the non-Hermitian transverse field Ising chain is investigated, revealing a second-order phase transition in the Ising universal class. Numerical computations of critical points and critical exponents from finite-size scaling theory show that the biorthogonal quantum phase transitions are described by biorthogonal fidelity susceptibility instead of conventional fidelity susceptibility.

Exceptional topology of non-Hermitian systems

Emil J. Bergholtz et al.

Summary: This review discusses the current understanding of the role of topology in non-Hermitian systems and its physical consequences in dissipative settings, focusing on the concept of exceptional degeneracies and its distinct phenomena, as well as the new notions of gapped phases in single-band systems. The unique sensitivity of non-Hermitian matrices to boundary conditions is highlighted, leading to anomalous relationships between bulk and boundary physics. Additionally, applications of non-Hermitian topology in classical and quantum systems are reviewed, showing its relevance beyond the field of topological phases.

Coherent and dissipative dynamics at quantum phase transitions

Davide Rossini et al.

Summary: This review discusses the many-body physics at quantum phase transitions, covering both equilibrium and out-of-equilibrium behaviors as well as effects of dissipative interactions. Different types of transitions exhibit distinct scaling behaviors, with the peculiar feature of extreme sensitivity to boundary conditions at first-order quantum transitions.

Dynamical crossover in the transient quench dynamics of short-range transverse-field Ising models

Ceren B. Dag et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the dynamical detection of quantum phases and phase transitions in quenched systems, revealing significant differences in scaling law exponent near the dynamical crossover between short and long times. It also shows that when integrability is strongly broken, the crossover boundary transforms into a region separating two other dynamical regions acting as dynamically ordered and disordered regimes.

Probing non-Hermitian phase transitions in curved space via quench dynamics

Ygor Para et al.

Summary: This study investigates the interplay of geometry and non-Hermitian dynamics by simulating a model of Dirac fermions with an imaginary mass term on a sphere, revealing the existence of curvature-dependent non-Hermitian phase transitions. The different phases are characterized by computing the pseudomagnetization and the non-Hermitian fidelity susceptibility, and the non-Hermitian phase transitions are probed by calculating the (generalized) Loschmidt echo and the dynamical fidelity after a quantum quench of the imaginary mass.

Hunting for the non-Hermitian exceptional points with fidelity susceptibility

Yu-Chin Tzeng et al.

Summary: In this study, fidelity susceptibility is generalized to non-Hermitian quantum systems and the behavior of fidelity at exceptional point is investigated. By algebraic or numerical calculations, it is found that fidelity tends to negative infinity at the exceptional point.
