Remediation of soil contaminated with high levels of hexavalent chromium by combined chemical-microbial reduction and stabilization

Lijuan Fu et al.

Summary: The study found that the conversion rate of Cr(VI) in soil contaminated with high levels of Cr(VI) reached 97% after chemical reduction combined with microbial stabilization treatment, and the concentration of Cr(VI) in toxic solutions can be reduced by 95%. The bacterial community changed significantly during the reduction process of Cr(VI), with a decrease in species abundance and evenness. Dominant species in this study were Bacillus spp. and Halomonas spp.
