A review of major and trace elements in Nile River and Western Red Sea sediments: An approach of geochemistry, pollution, and associated hazards

Wael M. Badawy et al.

Summary: The study identified significant amounts of V, Cr, and Zr in Nile sediments, while considerable concentrations of Br and Ca were found in marine sediments. Pollution indices revealed localized polluted sites in both Nile and marine sediments. Overall, the hazard index of the investigated elements in both sediments exceeded tolerable values.

Characterization of Trace Elements in Atmospheric Deposition Studied by Moss Biomonitoring in Georgia

O. Chaligava et al.

Summary: This study aimed to obtain and highlight the first comprehensive baseline data on atmospheric deposition of trace elements in Georgia and to evaluate the air quality in the region. The concentrations of most elements were comparable to literature values, but Mg, Al, K, Ca, Ti, and Fe were found to be higher. The mixture of geogenic and anthropogenic sources was identified as the provenance of the studied elements, indicating a considerable association of crustal elements.
