A NEW LOOK AT THE REMITTANCES-FDI- ENERGY-ENVIRONMENT NEXUS IN THE CASE OF SELECTED ASIAN NATIONS

Zia Ur Rahman et al.

Summary: This study examines the relationship between remittances, FDI, energy use, and CO2 emissions in six major Asian countries (China, India, the Philippines, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka) from 1982 to 2014. The results show a stable long-term association among these variables. CO2 emissions increase significantly with higher energy use in all countries in both the long and short term. The impact of remittances on CO2 emissions varies across countries, with positive effects observed in Sri Lanka, Pakistan, the Philippines, and Bangladesh in the long term, and only in Pakistan, the Philippines, and Sri Lanka in the short term. The inflow of FDI also has varying effects on CO2 emissions, with significant increases observed in China, Sri Lanka, and India, no significant effect in the Philippines and Pakistan, and a significant negative effect in Bangladesh.

Mohammed Musah et al.

Summary: This study fills the knowledge gap regarding the relationship between green investments, financial development, and environmental quality in Ghana. The results show that green investments improve environmental quality in Ghana both in the long and short term through carbon dioxide emissions reductions. However, financial development and energy utilization have a detrimental influence on the environment due to their positive impact on carbon dioxide emissions.

Reinvestigating the pollution haven hypothesis: the nexus between foreign direct investments and environmental quality in G-20 countries

Mohammed Musah et al.

Summary: This study examines the environmental impacts of foreign direct investment inflows on carbon dioxide emissions, with a focus on G-20 countries. The results show that higher foreign direct investment inflows and energy consumption lead to increased carbon dioxide emissions, while urbanization also contributes to carbon dioxide emissions. The study recommends that governments of G-20 countries take measures to control dirty foreign direct investment inflows, reduce reliance on fossil fuels, and promote green urbanization policies to achieve sustainable economic growth without compromising environmental well-being.

The long-run relationship between energy consumption, oil prices, and carbon dioxide emissions in European countries

Muhammad Qamar Rasheed et al.

Summary: European countries are striving to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, with an emphasis on increasing the use of renewable energy to reduce CO2 emissions. The research found that non-renewable energy consumption increases CO2 emissions while renewable energy consumption mitigates CO2 emissions. Additionally, rising oil prices lead to a shift towards alternative energy sources that decrease CO2 emissions.
