Hazards of phthalates (PAEs) exposure: A review of aquatic animal toxicology studies

Ying Zhang et al.

Summary: Phthalates are commonly used in plastic products and can enter the environment, leading to potential toxicity in aquatic animals. Exposure to Phthalates can activate detoxification and endocrine systems in aquatic animals, causing oxidative stress and metabolic disorders. In addition, combined pollution of Phthalates with other chemicals may result in altered toxicity effects in different directions.

Phthalates exposure during pregnancy a study in a Mexican cohort

Lilia Patricia Bustamante-Montes et al.

Summary: A prospective cohort study in the State of Mexico measured levels of three primary phthalate metabolites in pregnant women. No significant trends were observed in metabolite levels during pregnancy. Education level and residing in industrial zones were associated with higher phthalate levels, while consuming bottled beverages and using unregistered plastic containers were also linked to phthalate exposure.
