Lag effect of ambient temperature on the cardiovascular disease hospital admission in Jiuquan, China

Guangyu Zhai et al.

Summary: The study in Jiuquan found a clear association between temperature and cardiovascular disease, with low temperature effect diminishing over time and high temperature impact peaking and then decreasing. Cold effect was more harmful than heat effect, and adults and males were more vulnerable to temperature influence.

Temperature variability and asthma hospitalisation in Brazil, 2000-2015: a nationwide case-crossover study

Yao Wu et al.

Summary: This study found that short-term temperature variability (TV) was significantly associated with an increase in asthma hospitalisations in Brazil. Each 1 degrees C increase in 0-7 days' TV exposure was related to a 1.0% increase in asthma hospitalisations. The elderly were more vulnerable to TV than other age groups, and the impact of TV on asthma hospitalisation varied by region and season. The study period saw a substantial number of hospitalisations, high inpatient costs, and inpatient days associated with TV, indicating the importance of considering TV in preventive measures for asthma.

Estimating dynamic interactive linkages among urban agglomeration, economic performance, carbon emissions, and health expenditures across developmental disparities

Munir Ahmad et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the dynamic interactive causal links among urban agglomeration, economic performance, carbon emissions, and health expenditures in China across developmental disparities. The findings showed consistent causal linkages across disparities in development, but differences in the degree of impact were observed.

Cardiovascular disease (CVD): assessment, prediction and policy implications

Shazia Rehman et al.

Summary: This study predicts and assesses cardiovascular disease patterns in highly affected countries from 2005 to 2019. Results suggest that the USA and China may lead in terms of raising its number of deaths caused by CVDs till 2027, but the doubling time model indicates that USA may require 2.3 years in reducing the cardiovascular deaths.
