Green tea and cancer and cardiometabolic diseases: a review of the current epidemiological evidence

Sarah Krull Abe et al.

Summary: Green tea consumption is inversely associated with certain specific cancers, beneficial for cardiovascular disease outcomes, and the evidence for diabetes outcomes is inconclusive. Overall, green tea may be beneficial for human health.

The association between body composition and metabolically unhealthy profile of adults with normal weight in Northwest China

Ling Fan et al.

Summary: The proportion of metabolically unhealthy profile in adults with normal weight was 35.86%. Different distributions of MUHNW were found between males and females depending on age, with a significant increase in women after the age of 55. Increased adiposity indices (FMI, VFL, WCF) and reduced skeletal muscle mass ratio (SMR) showed significant differences between MUHNW and MHNW.

Reference values of skeletal muscle mass, fat mass and fat-to-muscle ratio for rural middle age and older adults in western China

Jia-Xing Zhang et al.

Summary: This study established reference values for skeletal muscle mass index, fat mass index, and fat-to-muscle ratio for healthy rural adults in western China. Results showed that men had higher skeletal muscle mass but lower fat mass and fat-to-muscle ratio than women, and there were age-related differences in body composition between men and women.

High-Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol: A Component of the Metabolic Syndrome with a New Role in Lung Function

Faxuan Wang et al.

Summary: This study found that impaired lung function was related to abdominal obesity, high blood pressure, and low levels of HDL-C. Surprisingly, increased HDL-C levels could accelerate the decline of lung function, suggesting that various metabolic indicators should be considered comprehensively to prevent lung function decline. A more sensitive evaluation of the role of HDL-C in lung function is warranted.
