Discovering the relationship between natural resources, energy consumption, gross capital formation with economic growth: Can lower financial openness change the curse into blessing

Humaira Yasmeen et al.

Summary: The study found a negative relationship between natural resources and economic growth, supporting the resource curse hypothesis, with non-renewable energy playing a stronger role in economic growth compared to renewable energy. Financial openness has a positive impact on economic growth, while gross capital formation does not significantly influence economic growth. Financial openness was not found to be capable of turning the resource curse into a blessing, with key guidelines proposed for efficient utilization of natural resources in the country.

Asymmetric impact of fossil fuel and renewable energy consumption on economic growth: A nonlinear technique

Khan Baz et al.

Summary: By analyzing the time series data of Pakistan, asymmetric and nonlinear cointegration between fossil fuel, renewable energy, and economic growth was confirmed. Positive shocks had asymmetric feedback causality with economic growth and renewable energy consumption, while a symmetric bidirectional hypothesis was observed between fossil fuel consumption and economic growth. An asymmetrically unidirectional causal nexus was confirmed between foreign direct investment and economic growth.

Re-evaluating the asymmetric conventional energy and renewable energy consumption-economic growth nexus for Pakistan

Muhammad Afaq Haider Jafri et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the relationship between economic growth and energy sources in Pakistan from 1980 to 2016. The findings suggest that renewable energy has a long-term asymmetric impact on economic growth, while the long-term symmetric and asymmetric effects of GDP in both energy models are confirmed. This highlights the importance of renewable energy in boosting economic growth and the potential negative impact of reducing its use on Pakistan's economy.

Do renewable energy consumption and financial development matter for environmental sustainability? New global evidence

Dervis Kirikkaleli et al.

Summary: This study examines the long-term effects of financial development and renewable energy consumption on environmental sustainability within the global framework, finding that both factors have a significant positive impact on environmental sustainability in the long run, while economic growth may lead to increased carbon emissions globally. The study recommends that global policymakers consider the roles of renewable energy and financial development in order to improve environmental quality by implementing energy policy reforms in both developed and developing countries.

The asymmetric impact of human capital on economic growth

Roman Matousek et al.

Summary: This paper examines the significance and asymmetric impact of human capital on countries' economic growth paths, finding a positive and statistically significant effect on economic growth levels. The study provides robust empirical evidence of a nonlinear relationship between human capital and economic growth, with more emphatic asymmetric patterns observed assuming perfect substitutability among skilled and unskilled workers.
