Bulk tungsten-substituted vanadium oxide for low-temperature NOx removal in the presence of water

Yusuke Inomata et al.

Summary: Bulk W-substituted vanadium oxide catalysts are reported for effective NH3-SCR at low temperatures with water, showing high reactivity and redox capability. The distribution of BrOnsted acid sites and reaction activity of the catalyst are influenced by the presence of water vapor under wet conditions.

Chemical gradients in automotive Cu-SSZ-13 catalysts for NOx removal revealed by operando X-ray spectrotomography

Johannes Becher et al.

Summary: This study combined operando X-ray absorption spectroscopy with microtomography to perform three-dimensional chemical imaging of copper species in a Cu-SSZ-13 monolith catalyst during NOx reduction. The results showed gradients in copper oxidation state and coordination environment at micrometre spatial resolution, revealing the interplay of NOx reduction with adsorption-desorption of NH3 and mass transport phenomena, while simultaneously determining catalytic performance. The use of operando X-ray spectrotomography proved useful in direct three-dimensional visualization of complex reactions on non-model catalysts, improving understanding of structure-activity relationships and observing mass and heat transport effects.

Summary: The study revealed the presence of various silver species on Ag/Al2O3 catalysts, with metallic silver clusters identified as the active sites for nitrate formation and the reduction of silver nitrates being the rate-determining step in the H-2-NH3-SCR reaction.

Simple physical mixing of zeolite prevents sulfur deactivation of vanadia catalysts for NOx removal

Inhak Song et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that physically mixed H-Y zeolite can protect vanadium active sites effectively by trapping ABS in micropores, enabling the catalyst to operate stably at low temperatures and maintaining sulfur resistance during repeated aging/regeneration cycles. The pore structure and framework Al content of different zeolites play a crucial role in determining the trapping ability.

Unraveling the Mechanism of Ammonia Selective Catalytic Oxidation on Ag/Al2O3 Catalysts by Operando Spectroscopy

Guangyan Xu et al.

Summary: This study investigated the mechanism of ammonia selective catalytic oxidation (NH3-SCO) on Ag/Al2O3 catalysts using operando spectroscopy. The results showed that silver nanoparticles are the active sites for NH3 oxidation, while silver cations are inert in this reaction. The NH3-SCO reaction on 10 wt % Ag/Al2O3 could be divided into three regions, and the reaction pathway is closely related to oxygen activation on the silver nanoparticles.
