Target, Nontarget, and Suspect Screening and Temporal Trends of Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances in Marine Mammals from the South China Sea

Qi Wang et al.

Summary: The study conducted target, nontarget, and suspect screening of PFASs in the liver of Indo-Pacific humpback dolphins and finless porpoises stranded in the South China Sea between 2012 and 2018. Perfluorooctane sulfonate and 6:2 Cl-PFESA were the predominant PFASs found, with significantly higher concentrations in dolphin liver samples than porpoise liver samples. Temporal trends indicated increasing pollution by emerging PFASs, and a risk assessment highlighted potential reproductive injury from the emerging PFAS 6:2 Cl-PFESA in cetaceans.

Suspect and non-target screening of reuse water by large-volume injection liquid chromatography and quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry

Will J. Backe

Summary: This study analyzed the chemical loads in water recycled for reuse applications, including sources, treatment methods, and compound detection. By using chromatographic techniques to separate and detect compounds, retention time models were established to improve the accuracy of compound identification. The study found a variety of compounds in recycled water, providing important information for further research on water quality safety.

Comprehensive chemical characterization of indoor dust by target, suspect screening and nontarget analysis using LC-HRMS and GC-HRMS

Florian Dubocq et al.

Summary: This study aimed to comprehensively characterize the chemical composition of indoor dust using a combination of target analysis, suspect screening analysis (SSA), and nontarget analysis (NTA). Various hazardous organic contaminants, such as flame retardants, liquid crystal monomers, bisphenols, and pesticides, were detected through the analytical methods employed.

Establishment of a Target, Suspect, and Functional Group-Dependent Screening Strategy for Organophosphate Esters (OPEs): Into the Unknown of OPEs in the Sediment of Taihu Lake, China

Langjie Ye et al.

Summary: This study developed an effective strategy for comprehensive screening of OPEs in environmental samples and successfully applied it to sediment samples from Taihu Lake. The study identified new OPEs, observed trends in OPE concentrations with distance from the lake coast, and found significant correlations between certain OPEs.

Environment friendly, renewable and sustainable poly lactic acid (PLA) based natural fiber reinforced composites-A comprehensive review

G. Rajeshkumar et al.

Summary: The development of sustainable bio composites is driven by environmental concerns globally, with biodegradable polymers and natural fibers playing a vital role in this field. While PLA has distinct advantages, blending it with natural fibers is necessary to overcome its limitations and improve performance.
