Tailoring polymeric composite gel beads-encapsulated microorganism for efficient degradation of phenolic compounds

Xueping Liu et al.

Summary: This study successfully degraded phenol by immobilizing microorganisms into polymeric composite gel beads, showing excellent operational stability. The degradation rate of the immobilized microorganism reached 99.5%, and after 90 repeated treatments, it still maintained over 99% degradation rate for phenol, demonstrating good degradation activity towards phenolic compounds.
