Summary: Oiltea camellia shell biochar was prepared by pyrolysis in the presence of sodium silicate, which significantly enhanced its adsorption capacity for Cd removal. Silicate-modification increased the specific surface area of biochar and promoted the internal diffusion of Cd on biochar.
