Tetrabromobisphenol A and hexabromocyclododecanes in sediments and biota from two typical mangrove wetlands of South China: Distribution, bioaccumulation and biomagnification

Huawei Li et al.

Summary: The study found variations in the distribution and bioaccumulation of TBBPA and HBCDs in sediments and biota species from two mangrove wetlands in the Pearl River Estuary and the Jiulong River Estuary. Levels of TBBPA and HBCDs differed significantly between sediments and biota, with differences in the predominant diastereoisomers observed.

BDE-209 and DBDPE induce male reproductive toxicity through telomere-related cell senescence and apoptosis in SD rat

Xiangyang Li et al.

Summary: This study found that both BDE-209 and DBDPE can cause testicular damage, decrease sperm quantity and motility, increase sperm malformation rates, and induce cell senescence and apoptosis in rat testis by shortening telomere length and reducing telomerase activity. BDE-209 had more severe effects on male reproduction compared to DBDPE.

Formation of perfluorocarboxylic acids (PFCAs) during the exposure of earthworms to 6:2 fluorotelomer sulfonic acid (6:2 FTSA)

Shuyan Zhao et al.

Summary: The study found that 6:2 FTSA has high bioaccumulative ability in earthworms, and produced five terminal perfluorocarboxylic acids metabolites, with trifluoroacetic acid as the predominant metabolite.

Mechanisms for tissue-specific accumulation and phase I/II transformation of 6:2 fluorotelomer phosphate diester in earthworm ( M. guillelmi )

Yumin Zhu et al.

Summary: The study found that 6:2 fluorotelomer phosphate diester primarily accumulates in earthworms through skin absorption and gut processes. The gut digestion fluid promotes desorption of 6:2 diPAP from soil, enhancing its bioavailability. Earthworms experience faster and more extensive biotransformation of 6:2 diPAP in the gut, leading to the identification of a new phase II product.
