Temperature and the size of freshwater phytoplankton

Tamar Zohary et al.

Summary: The literature review found that freshwater phytoplankton become smaller with increasing water temperature, in line with Bergmann's Rule. Experimental and field evidence support this hypothesis, with exceptions mostly explained by indirect effects of temperature on phytoplankton size.
