Links between air pollution and COVID-19 in England

Marco Travaglio et al.

Summary: The study reveals a positive relationship between air pollutant concentrations, particularly nitrogen oxides, and COVID-19 mortality and infectivity. PM2.5 was identified as a major contributor to COVID-19 cases in England, with a 12% increase in cases linked to a 1 m³ increase in the long-term average of PM2.5. The findings suggest that even a small increase in air pollution could lead to a significant rise in COVID-19 infectivity and mortality rates in England.

Childhood traffic-related air pollution and adverse changes in subclinical atherosclerosis measures from childhood to adulthood

Summary: In this study, childhood traffic-related NOx exposure was associated with adverse changes in CIMT progression over time, while ambient pollutants did not show significant associations. Further research is needed to explore the relationship between traffic-related air pollutants and subclinical atherosclerosis in young populations.
