Net section fracture of S700 high strength steel staggered bolted connections

Ke Jiang et al.

Summary: This study investigated the net section failure and load-carrying capacities of S700 high strength steel staggered bolted connections under tension through experimental and numerical methods. The results showed that the American specification provided the highest design accuracy, although with some unsafe predictions, while the European code and Australian standard were more conservative but still relatively accurate and safe in terms of design resistances. Additionally, all three design codes were more accurate in predicting failure loads for 2-bolt staggered connections compared to 3-bolt staggered connections.
