Effects of biodiversity in green roofs and walls on the capture of fine particulate matter

Sergio Vera et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the impact of biodiverse green roofs and green walls on PM2.5 capture. The results showed that higher biodiversity of plants in green roofs and green walls resulted in higher PM2.5 capture, especially for species with lower capture rates in monocultures. Polycultures may be more effective in long-term reduction of high PM2.5 concentrations.
