Design and off-design performance comparison of supercritical carbon dioxide Brayton cycles for particle-based high temperature concentrating solar power plants

Rui Chen et al.

Summary: This study presents a comprehensive comparison on the performance of six S-CO2 Brayton cycles in a particle-based CSP plant, revealing that ambient temperature has a greater influence on system performance than heat transfer fluid temperature. Configurations with simpler designs prove to be more suitable for integrating with high-temperature CSP plants and dry cooling systems, especially in areas with ambient temperatures above 30 degrees C.

Response behaviors of CO2 transcritical Rankine cycle based parabolic trough solar power plant to cloud disturbance

Zhenghua Rao et al.

Summary: A dynamic thermodynamics model was developed to simulate the response behaviors of CO2-TRC in trough CSP systems, showing that cloud thickness and cover duration have different impacts on system performance, with the recovery time for the regenerative system potentially being three times longer than that for the simple system.
