Simulating building integrated photovoltaic facades: Comparison to experimental data and evaluation of modelling complexity

Juliana E. Goncalves et al.

Summary: The detailed multi-physics BIPV model provides the best agreement with experimental data, but it is still possible to reduce the model complexity with acceptable accuracy. Simplifying the model does not significantly affect the predictions, showing that a balance between complexity and accuracy can be achieved in BIPV modeling.

Cooling hot cities: a systematic and critical review of the numerical modelling literature

E. Scott Krayenhoff et al.

Summary: Infrastructure-based heat reduction strategies can help cities adapt to high temperatures, but simulations of their cooling potential yield widely varying predictions. Studies on urban air temperature reduction through green-blue infrastructure and reflective materials show differences in methods and conclusions at different scales, with identified limitations in the research.

A single-layer urban canopy model with transmissive radiation exchange between trees and street canyons

Summary: Urban trees are effective in mitigating excessive heat stress in cities, reducing net radiation of ground and wall as well as daytime temperature through shading and transpiration. However, they may slightly warm nighttime street canyons through radiative trapping effect.
