Structure evolution of PtCu nanoframes from disordered to ordered for the oxygen reduction reaction

Mingxing Gong et al.

Summary: The study compared the catalytic performance of platinum-copper alloys in different crystal structures for the first time, revealing that the rhombohedral PtCu intermetallics have significantly enhanced durability but decreased initial activity. Through in-situ STEM experiment and 3D tomography, it was showed that the ordering process improved resistance against copper leaching while causing collapse and aggregation of nanoframes.

Study on Catalytic Oxygen Reduction Performance of Mo-PtCu Octahedral Catalyst

Fanghui Wang et al.

Summary: A Mo-PtCu catalyst with an octahedral morphology was prepared through a hydrothermal reaction, showing higher catalytic activity and durability due to the addition of Mo. The Mo0.02-PtCu/C catalyst exhibited improved mass activity, excellent oxygen reduction reaction rate, and durability, with a small amount of Mo preventing platinum and copper atoms from dissolving, thus enhancing the ORR performance of the catalyst.

Size-Controlled Intermetallic PtZn Nanoparticles on N-Doped Carbon Support for Enhanced Electrocatalytic Oxygen Reduction

Xiao Han et al.

Summary: This study successfully synthesized uniform PtZn intermetallic nanoparticles with controlled size and demonstrated significantly improved electrocatalytic performance for oxygen reduction reaction compared to traditional Pt/C catalysts. The innovative use of TCPP as a bifunctional coordination agent coordinating with Pt ions and ZIF-8 is a key feature of this research. The presented size uniformity control strategy offers a new approach to enhance the activity and stability of Pt-based catalysts in fuel cells.
