Impact of Centrifuge-Separated Fractions from Light Tight Oils on the Propensity and Mechanisms of Fouling, and Improved Crude Oil Fouling Potential Prediction Model

Guangzhe Greg Yu et al.

Summary: The processing of light tight oils (LTOs) and their blends is challenged by their high fouling propensity, primarily attributed to the solid fractions from centrifuge-accelerated settling. The study found that a small solid fraction containing less than 0.5% of the volume bears the majority of fouling potential in LTOs, while the liquid fraction of LTOs also affects fouling potential. Furthermore, the paraffin crystals within LTOs lead to a flocculated structure and hinder solid settling, showcasing the complex and intertwined fouling mechanisms of different LTO blends.

Interfacial Rheology Measured with a Spinning Drop Interfacial Rheometer: Particularities in More Realistic Surfactant-Oil-Water Systems Close to Optimum Formulation at HLDN=0

Ronald Marquez et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effect of physicochemical formulation on interfacial rheology properties of surfactant-oil-water systems. Results show that at the optimum formulation, interfacial tension and interfacial elastic moduli reach a deep minimum.
