Spatial distribution of biogas potential, utilization ratio and development potential of biogas from agricultural waste in China

Bojie Yan et al.

Summary: The biogas potential from agricultural waste in China is mainly concentrated in crop straw and livestock excreta. Hot spots of URBAW were found in South and Southwest China, while cold spots were in North and Northeast China from 2008 to 2017. The uneven distribution of the development potential of biogas from agricultural waste in China in 2017 showed higher potential in Shandong and Henan.

Effects of sulfur-rich biochar amendment on microbial methylation of mercury in rhizosphere paddy soil and methylmercury accumulation in rice

Hualing Hu et al.

Summary: The study shows that using sulfur-enriched biochar amendment can reduce MeHg accumulation in rice, as it increases sulfur content and humic acid-like substances in rhizosphere soil, strengthening the binding of MeHg to soil and reducing MeHg levels in grains.

Nitrogen-doped activated carbons derived from microalgae pyrolysis by-products by microwave/KOH activation for CO2 adsorption

Shuo Shi et al.

Summary: Nitrogen-doped activated carbons synthesized by microwave/KOH activation from microalgae pyrolysis by-products exhibit developed pore structure and abundant active functional groups, resulting in high CO2 adsorption capacities. The CO2 adsorption processes are mainly controlled by external mass transfer and are primarily physisorption. Additionally, the CO2 adsorption capacities of nitrogen-doped activated carbons by microwave/KOH activation are significantly better than those by thermal/KOH activation.

Adsorption of elemental mercury in flue gas using biomass porous carbons modified by microwave/hydrogen peroxide

Ying Li et al.

Summary: A clean modification method combining microwave activation and H2O2 impregnation of bio-char was proposed in this study to enhance the mercury adsorption capacity, which effectively improved the Hg0 removal efficiency by improving the pore structure and functional groups of biomass porous carbons. Oxygen and nitric oxide play a significant role in the mercury removal process.

Removal of pollutants from gas streams using Fenton (-like)-based oxidation systems: A review

Yangxian Liu et al.

Summary: Removal of pollutants from gas streams using Fenton-like oxidation systems has gained attention for its promising multi-pollutant removal capability. However, challenges like metal ion recovery, low radical utilization, and system stability remain to be addressed. Strategies like catalyst synthesis, mass transfer enhancement, and reactor optimization are proposed to overcome the existing defects and improve the efficiency of these technologies.
