The effects of environmental regulation on outward foreign direct investment's reverse green technology spillover: Crowding out or facilitation?

Liyun Liu et al.

Summary: This study used Chinese provincial-level data to provide statistical evidence for the moderating effect of environmental regulations on the reverse green technology spillover of outward foreign direct investment. The results showed that well-designed environmental regulations can amplify the reverse green technology spillover brought by OFDI, with regional differences in the moderating effect.

The impact of regional market integration and economic opening up on environmental total factor energy productivity in Chinese provinces

Hongwei Su et al.

Summary: This paper examines the impact of China's market integration and economic opening up on Environmental Total Factor Energy Productivity (ETFEP) in 29 provinces from 1999-2017, and suggests that China should strengthen resource management, push for technological progress, and focus on improving energy productivity; inland China needs to scientifically take over transferred industries to avoid poverty traps; coastal areas should speed up market integration to increase energy productivity.

How to improve total factor energy efficiency? An empirical analysis of the Yangtze River economic belt of China

Liwei Tang et al.

Summary: The study found that in the Yangtze River Economic Belt, technological efficiency has almost zero contribution to the growth of total factor energy efficiency (TFEE), technological progress has a negative impact on TFEE, and scale efficiency changes are crucial for TFEE growth. The TFEE of the western region is narrowing the gap with the central and eastern regions, and research investment is a key factor that can significantly improve TFEE growth.

How does international technology spillover affect China's carbon emissions? A new perspective through intellectual property protection

Yu Hao et al.

Summary: This study analyzes the impact of international technology spillovers on carbon emissions in China and finds regional heterogeneity. International technology spillovers increase carbon emissions in the eastern and central regions while having a inhibitory effect on carbon emissions in the western region.

The effect of industrial structure adjustment on China's energy intensity: Evidence from linear and nonlinear analysis

Bingjiang Luan et al.

Summary: This study finds that industrial structure adjustment is an effective measure to reduce energy intensity in China. Linear analysis shows that an increase in the proportion of the tertiary industry and industrial structure optimization are associated with a decline in energy intensity. Nonlinear analysis indicates that changes in industrial structure optimization affect the relationships among industrial structure adjustment, technological progress, and energy intensity.

Impact of green credit on high-efficiency utilization of energy in China considering environmental constraints

Malin Song et al.

Summary: China is facing the challenge of maintaining steady economic growth while considering environmental protection and achieving high-efficiency energy utilization in the new normal. Green credit, credit scale, environmental regulation, technological progress, and industrial structure play significant roles in promoting high-efficiency utilization of energy. There is an apparent spatial effect in China's regional high-efficiency utilization of energy.
