Monthly natural gas demand forecasting by adjusted seasonal grey forecasting model

Huseyin Avni Es

Summary: Turkey, as a net importer of natural gas, relies heavily on accurate demand forecasting due to its poor capacity in natural gas sources. Most existing studies on natural gas demand forecasting are conducted on an annual basis, which fails to capture seasonal effects. To better predict seasonal trends, models that can capture seasonality are needed.

Forecasting daily natural gas consumption with regression, time series and machine learning based methods

Melih Yucesan et al.

Summary: This study compares different methods for natural gas consumption forecasting and finds that the SARIMAX and ANN hybrid model performs the best in terms of MAPE, with the lowest error at 0.357. The ARIMA-ANN hybrid model follows closely in accuracy performance with a MAPE value of 0.5. The Genetic algorithm-ANN hybrid model shows the worst performance with a MAPE value of approximately 26%.

The environmental Kuznets curve hypothesis for Bangladesh: the importance of natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas, and hydropower consumption

Muntasir Murshed et al.

Summary: The study in Bangladesh on the environmental Kuznets curve hypothesis suggests that natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas can serve as transitional fuels to mitigate environmental pollution by reducing carbon dioxide and greenhouse gas emissions. Additionally, consumption of coal and refined petroleum oil leads to environmental degradation, highlighting the need for Bangladesh to balance economic expansion and environmental protection.

IndoorSense: context based indoor pollutant prediction using SARIMAX model

Joy Dutta et al.

Summary: Indoor air pollutants have a significant impact on human health, especially CO2. Predicting and controlling indoor pollutant levels is crucial for maintaining a healthy indoor environment. The SARIMAX time series model is found to be the most suitable for forecasting indoor CO2 concentration, outperforming other models in this domain.

Modelling and forecasting the oil consumptions of the BRICS-T countries

Izzet Karakurt

Summary: Oil, as one of the world's most promising energy sources, plays a crucial role in driving or hindering economic development of a country. This study developed regression models to forecast future oil consumption of the BRICS-T countries, with statistical verification and performance measurement showing a projected 70% increase in oil consumption over the next 20 years.

Application of the artificial intelligence GANNATS model in forecasting crude oil demand for Saudi Arabia and China

Saud M. Al-Fattah et al.

Summary: This paper develops a rigorous data-driven model using artificial intelligence techniques to forecast global crude oil demand. The models were applied to Saudi Arabia and China, showing that oil demand will continue to grow but with a mildly declining growth rate. The study also highlights the impact of factors such as energy efficiency and renewable energy on oil demand.

Natural gas consumption forecasting: A discussion on forecasting history and future challenges

Jinyuan Liu et al.

Summary: The paper reviews the history of natural gas consumption forecasting technology and categorizes it into different stages based on the characteristics of forecasting models used in each period. It identifies the fastest-growing forecasting horizon as short-term forecasting, mainly influenced by temperature variables, and the best models for long-term forecasting as time series models. Additionally, AI-based models show the best performance for medium-term and short-term forecasting.
