Fluorescent fiber-based identification of incipient discharges in liquid nitrogen

Janjanam Naveen et al.

Summary: The study identified corona and surface discharges in liquid nitrogen insulation using fluorescent fibers, and found that a specific type of fluorescent fiber is more sensitive in detecting discharges. An enhancement in signal magnitude was observed beyond the corona inception voltage, while corona activity quenched at lower voltages. Analysis of fluorescent and UHF signals revealed differences in sensitivity to discharges and signal enhancement patterns.

Impact of MgO nanofiller-addition on electrical and mechanical properties of glass fiber reinforced epoxy nanocomposites

Janjanam Naveen et al.

Summary: Glass fiber reinforced epoxy nanocomposites were synthesized with varying weight percentages of MgO nanofillers to enhance their mechanical and electrical properties, particularly for aerospace and high voltage insulation applications. Studies showed that inclusion of 3 wt% MgO nanofillers resulted in improved surface profile, higher contact angle, and better electrical characteristics, with higher surface potential decay rate observed.
