Mullite-zirconia composite for the bonding phase of refractory bricks in hazardous waste incineration rotary kiln

Adrian Villalba Weinberg et al.

Summary: This study investigates the transfer of mullite-zirconia composites to the bonding phase of refractory bricks through control of secondary oxides. Results show sensitivity to Na2O, while TiO2 and P2O5 additions are beneficial. A novel refractory brick developed based on this research showed success at an industrial scale.

Two-fluid simulation of moving grate waste incinerator: Comparison of 2D and 3D bed models

Zihong Xia et al.

Summary: The study proposes an efficient computational method by combining a 2D bed model with a 3D furnace model, which significantly improves the modeling efficiency of industrial moving grate combustors. The new approach allows for simulated bedtop profiles and turbulent gas combustion simulation for the whole furnace, enhancing the understanding and performance evaluation of the incineration process.

Low-temperature sintering behavior of fly ash from hazardous waste incinerator: Effect of temperature and oxygen on ash properties

Mi Yan et al.

Summary: The low-temperature sintering behavior of hazardous waste incineration fly ash was investigated at different temperatures and atmospheres. As the sintering temperature increased, the mass loss of HFA increased and the leaching rate of heavy metals decreased. Sintered ash became denser and formed ceramic-like particles, which could reduce space occupancy in landfills. Oxygen-rich atmosphere inhibited the volatilization and leaching of heavy metals.
