The structure and electrical properties of lithium doped pyrochlore Gd2Zr2O7

I. A. Anokhina et al.

Summary: Two lithium-doped phases were prepared using the Pechini method, showing that heat treatment above 1200 degrees C leads to a significant loss of lithium. Microwave sintering at lower temperatures can result in ceramics with stoichiometric lithium content. The introduction of lithium in the Gd-sublattice decreases the unit cell parameter, while doping at the Zr-sites increases it, leading to an increase in free cell volume. The conductivity of the samples can be enhanced by Li+-doping at the Gd3+-site, with one sample showing lower conductivity potentially due to trapping of oxygen vacancies. Conductivity measurements indicated the Li-containing phase acts as a pure oxide conduction at temperatures below 800 degrees C.

Effect of doping CeO2 and Sc2O3 on structure, thermal properties and sintering resistance of YSZ

Xiaodong Wei et al.

Summary: This paper investigated the effects of CeO2 and Sc2O3 doping on YSZ, where CeO2 increased cell volume and tetragonal degree while Sc2O3 had the opposite effect. The results showed that co-doping with CeO2 and Sc2O3 improved thermal conductivity and provided stability against phase transformation, making CeScYSZ an ideal material for thermal protection at higher temperatures.

Effect of Long- and Short-Range Disorder on the Oxygen Ionic Conductivity of Tm2(Ti2-xTmx)O7-x/2 Stuffed Pyrochlores

Bryce G. Mullens et al.

Summary: In the study of the Tm-2(Ti2-xTmx)O7-x/2 (x = 0.00-0.67) series, it was found that long-range disorder occurs more suddenly while local disorder evolves gradually. The crystal field splitting of the Ti4+ ions decreases gradually with increasing Tm3+ content, reflecting an increase in coordination number from 6 to predominantly 7. Additionally, an increase in oxygen ionic conductivity by a factor of 4 was observed at x = 0.268.
