This paper simulates rectangular electrodes embedded in an insulating plane and estimates the steady diffusion limited currents for different relative lengths and widths. The behavior and steady state currents of square electrode arrays are also studied. The results show that the steady state currents of small arrays are lower than the theoretical values as the electrode separations increase.
In this paper, rectangular electrodes embedded flush in an insulating plane have been simulated under diffusion limited chronoamperometric conditions, with the goal of estimating steady diffusion limited currents to an accuracy of about 1%, for a range of relative lengths vs. width, as an update of our previous work. Following this, the behaviour of square electrode arrays was studied, for various separations on an infinite array, and as small arrays, and diffusion limited time-varying and steady state currents were obtained. For increasing separations between the electrodes, the steady state currents at small arrays fall below the expected theoretical values. (c) 2021 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
