An augmented state observer-based sensorless control of grid-connected inverters under grid faults

Faycal Benyamina et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a novel control strategy to improve grid-connected inverter control under unbalanced grid voltage conditions by estimating the positive and negative sequence components of grid voltage. The estimated values of grid voltage are used to protect the inverter from over-current tripping and ensure compliance with grid codes to maintain grid stability. The effectiveness of the proposed power control strategy has been demonstrated through numerical simulation and experimental validation in both balanced and unbalanced grid fault conditions.

Protection of AC microgrid integrated with renewable energy sources - A research review and future trends

Ankan Chandra et al.

Summary: The addition of distributed generation improves the performance of power systems, but also brings challenges for protection scheme design. Traditional protection philosophies in microgrids are impacted by DERs, making them vulnerable to faults. Modifying protection philosophies and adjusting protection devices, as well as utilizing communication-assisted protection architecture and real-time analysis, can enhance the resilience of microgrids.

Mitigation of DC-link voltage oscillations to reduce size of DC-side capacitor and improve lifetime of power converter

Mehmet Emin Meral et al.

Summary: This paper introduces a new control scheme to eliminate power oscillations on DC and AC sides, controlling reference active power with a closed-loop system. It effectively reduces DC-link voltage oscillations, improving inverter lifespan and grid stability for primary energy resources. Detailed comparative analysis and case studies support the proposed control scheme's effectiveness in mitigating DC-link voltage oscillations.

Study and analysis of voltage source converter control stability for HVDC system using different control techniques

Dalia Rabie et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the control and stability analysis of voltage source converter (VSC) for DC link voltage regulation, and designs the parameters of proportional-integral (PI) controller. Modulus optimum, symmetrical optimum pole placement control approaches are studied and implemented for tuning the voltage/current controller gain parameters. The concepts are verified through MATLAB/Simulink model and simulation studies.
