Health risk assessment of 42 pesticide residues in Tieguanyin tea from Fujian, China

Qinghua Yao et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the residues of 42 pesticides in Tieguanyin tea produced in Fujian, China. Among the 90 tea samples tested, 17 pesticides were detected, with imidacloprid, tolfenpyrad, bifenthrin, and acetamiprid being the most commonly found. The levels of pesticide residues varied across seasons and production regions. Despite the high occurrence of pesticide residues, the levels observed were not considered a serious public health problem.

Evaluation and comparison of the mitochondrial and developmental toxicity of three strobilurins in zebrafish embryo/larvae

Lihua Yang et al.

Summary: Strobilurin fungicides have been found in aquatic environments and can induce mitochondrial toxicity in non-target aquatic organisms. The three strobilurins tested in this study all inhibit mitochondrial and non-mitochondrial respiration, with varying effects on behavior and swim bladder inflation in zebrafish larvae. Further investigation is needed to understand the toxic phenotypes and underlying mechanisms of each chemical. Pyraclostrobin showed higher mitochondrial toxicity at lethal doses and higher developmental toxicity at sublethal doses compared to the other two strobilurins.

A comprehensive review of strobilurin fungicide toxicity in aquatic species: Emphasis on mode of action from the zebrafish model

Xiaohong Wang et al.

Summary: Strobilurins are widely used fungicides in agriculture and can have varying toxicities on aquatic species, affecting mitochondrial functions and physiological processes in organisms. Studies suggest potential risks of endocrine disruption and other adverse effects on aquatic ecosystems, highlighting the importance of further research on the toxicity mechanisms of strobilurin fungicides.

Potential aquatic environmental risks of trifloxystrobin: Enhancement of virus susceptibility in zebrafish through initiation of autophagy

Huan Wang et al.

Summary: Exposure to trifloxystrobin (TFS) can decrease the resistance of fish to viral infections, leading to significant increases in viral replication. TFS induces autophagy and suppresses the immune response through the mTOR-mediated pathway, potentially contributing to viral disease outbreaks in aquatic environments.
