Blue light induces DNA damage in normal human skin keratinocytes

Cecile Chamayou-Robert et al.

Summary: The study found that blue light can induce DNA damage in human skin cells, including oxidative and CPD lesions, which are repaired through BER and NER pathways. Additionally, blue light may also lead to chromosome abnormalities, potentially accelerating skin aging.

Interventions for Actinic Keratosis in Nonscalp and Nonface Localizations: Results from a Systematic Review with Network Meta-Analysis

Theresa Steeb et al.

Summary: In patients with actinic keratosis outside the head and neck, cryosurgery showed the highest participant complete and lesion clearance rates, while ingenol mebutate demonstrated the highest participant partial clearance rates. However, information on lesion reduction and adverse events was poorly reported. The certainty of evidence ranged from very low to high, limited by imprecision and study limitations.

Phase 3 Trials of Tirbanibulin Ointment for Actinic Keratosis

Andrew Blauvelt et al.

Summary: Tirbanibulin, a tubulin polymerization and Src kinase inhibitor, was more effective than placebo ointment in clearing actinic keratoses on the face and scalp at 2 months. However, recurrence of lesions occurred in 47% of patients at 1 year, with adverse events related to local irritation.

Guidelines of care for the management of actinic keratosis

Daniel B. Eisen et al.

Summary: This analysis reviewed the literature related to the management of AK to provide evidence-based recommendations for treatment. Strong recommendations were made for using ultraviolet protection, topical medications, and cryosurgery to treat AK. Conditional recommendations were made for photodynamic therapy and diclofenac for the treatment of AK.

Evaluation of Long-term Clearance Rates of Interventions for Actinic Keratosis A Systematic Review and Network Meta-analysis

Theresa Steeb et al.

Summary: This systematic review and network meta-analysis evaluated the long-term efficacy of interventions for actinic keratosis. Photodynamic therapy with aminolevulinate, imiquimod, photodynamic therapy with methyl aminolevulinate, and cryosurgery were found to have significant long-term benefits in treating actinic keratosis. The study provides evidence-based guidance for selecting interventions with sustained lesion clearance in patients with actinic keratosis.
