Remote Application and Use of Real-Time Continuous Glucose Monitoring by Adults with Type 2 Diabetes in a Virtual Diabetes Clinic

Richard M. Bergenstal et al.

Summary: The Onduo Virtual Diabetes Clinic successfully provided real-time continuous glucose monitoring devices to adults with type 2 diabetes without in-office training, resulting in high satisfaction rates and improved understanding of the impact of eating on diabetes control. The intermittent use of rtCGM was associated with a significant decrease in HbA1c levels.

Glycemic Improvement Using Continuous Glucose Monitoring by Baseline Time in Range: Subgroup Analyses from the DIAMOND Type 1 Diabetes Study

Peter Calhoun et al.

Summary: The DIAMOND study showed that real-time continuous glucose monitors (rtCGMs) can improve glycemia for adults with type 1 diabetes using multiple daily injections. Participants with lower baseline time in range (<40%, <50%, <60%) benefited more from using rtCGMs compared to self-monitoring of blood glucose (SMBG), with significant improvements in mean TIR and reduced time spent in hyper- and hypoglycemic ranges.

Glycaemic profiles of diverse patients with type 2 diabetes using basal insulin: MOBILE study baseline data

Anne Peters et al.

Summary: In the MOBILE study, it was found that basal insulin users with suboptimal control of T2D often have inadequate self-monitored blood glucose (SMBG) frequency, leading to issues with hyperglycemia and hypoglycemia management. The study aims to determine the benefits of using real-time continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) compared to SMBG in this population.

Glucose Regulation Beyond HbA1c in Type 2 Diabetes Treated With Insulin: Real-World Evidence From the DIALECT-2 Cohort

Niala den Braber et al.

Summary: In insulin-treated patients with type 2 diabetes, high HbA(1c) did not decrease the occurrence of nocturnal hypoglycemia, and low HbA(1c) was not associated with the highest time in range (TIR). Optimal personalization of glycemic control requires the use of newer tools, including CGM-derived parameters.

Effect of Continuous Glucose Monitoring on Glycemic Control in Patients With Type 2 Diabetes Treated With Basal Insulin A Randomized Clinical Trial

Thomas Martens et al.

Summary: Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) was more effective in reducing HbA1c levels at 8 months compared to blood glucose meter (BGM) monitoring in adults with poorly controlled type 2 diabetes treated with basal insulin without prandial insulin. Participants using CGM also showed better time in target glucose range and lower mean glucose values.

Summary: In this pilot study, limited episodic real-time continuous glucose monitoring (rtCGM) use in individuals failing multiple non-insulin therapies resulted in modest, short-term glycemic benefits. However, these benefits were not sustained in the long run.
