Long-Term Outcomes of Occipital Nerve Stimulation for New Daily Persistent Headache With Migrainous Features

Susie Lagrata et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effectiveness of occipital nerve stimulation (ONS) in treating NDPH with migrainous features and found that only one out of nine patients showed a positive response after a median follow-up of 53 months. The overall cohort did not show any improvement in monthly headache days or disability scores. The difference in response rates between chronic migraine and NDPH with migrainous features suggests a different pathophysiology for the two conditions.

Features and Management of New Daily Persistent Headache in Developmental-Age Patients

Laura Papetti et al.

Summary: The study found that the features of pain in NDPH patients were more similar to migraine than tension-type headache, with a lower frequency of nausea and vomiting. Additionally, 75% of NDPH patients experienced symptom onset in the winter months (November to February). On the other hand, NDPH was less common in very young children under 10 years of age.

Post-reversible cerebral vasoconstriction syndrome headache

Yu-Hsiang Ling et al.

Summary: This study revealed that post-RCVS headache is common, affecting half of the patients and causing moderate-to-severe disability in about one-tenth of them. Higher anxiety levels and history of migraines are identified as risk factors for post-RCVS headache. Approximately half of the patients with post-RCVS headache are estimated to recover in about a year.

New Daily Persistent Headache in a Pediatric Population

Eric Strong et al.

Summary: This study found that NDPH is a relatively common disorder among pediatric chronic headache patients. The majority of these patients exhibit migrainous headache characteristics and associated symptoms, and are highly refractory to treatment - evidenced by a strong predisposition to medication overuse headache and high rates of failed preventive management.
