Accelerated repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation in the treatment of post-concussion symptoms due to mild traumatic brain injury: a pilot study

Benjamin P. Meek et al.

Summary: The study found that twice-daily, low frequency rTMS over the right DLPFC significantly improved post-concussion symptoms, disability, pain ratings, as well as depression and anxiety symptoms, and also showed improvements in cognitive functions such as verbal fluency and working memory.

fMRI findings in MTBI patients with headaches following rTMS

Michael Vaninetti et al.

Summary: rTMS treatment in MTBI-HA patients significantly reduces headache frequency and intensity, while increasing activity in the left prefrontal cortex, enhancing the regulatory function against headaches.

Comparison of the effects of transcranial direct current stimulation and mindfulness-based stress reduction on mental fatigue, quality of life and aggression in mild traumatic brain injury patients: a randomized clinical trial

Sheida Shirvani et al.

Summary: This study aimed to compare the effects of MBSR and tDCS treatments on mental fatigue, aggression, and quality of life in mTBI patients. The results showed that both methods were effective in reducing mental fatigue and aggression and increasing quality of life in mTBI patients; MBSR treatment may be more effective than tDCS in patients with mTBI.

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation for the Treatment of Concussion: A Systematic Review

Adriano Mollica et al.

Summary: Recent studies have shown promising results for treating post-concussive depression and headache with repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS). However, the small sample sizes and methodological heterogeneity of existing trials highlight the need for larger studies to confirm potential efficacy.
