Prediction of shear behavior of steel fiber-reinforced rubberized concrete beams reinforced with glass fiber-reinforced polymer (GFRP) bars

Seyyed-Asgar Hosseini et al.

Summary: In this study, the shear performance of FRP bar-reinforced concrete beams containing steel fibers and crumb tire rubber was evaluated, and a model and empirical equation were proposed to predict their shear capacity. The proposed equation showed more accurate results compared to existing shear strength prediction equations for beams with FRP reinforcing bars.

Flexural response of fiber reinforced concrete beams with waste tires rubber and recycled aggregate

Md. Shahjalal et al.

Summary: This research investigates the impact of waste materials on recycled concrete, improving its mechanical properties through the introduction of crumb rubber and polypropylene fiber. Concrete beams with the mixture of materials exhibit enhanced performance, while existing design guidelines are inadequate in assessing their load-bearing capacity.

Properties of concrete with untreated and treated crumb rubber - A review

Rida Alwi Assaggaf et al.

Summary: Crumb rubber has been used to enhance the impact and toughness of concrete, and the flexibility of rubber aggregates could be the key to solving failure due to fatigue. Although there may be a marginal reduction in mechanical properties, appropriate treatment of crumb rubber can overcome this issue. The use of crumb rubber concrete can have a positive impact on the environment by solving disposal problems and conserving natural aggregates.

The effect of steam curing regimes on the chloride resistance and pore size of high-strength green concrete

Abdullah M. Zeyad et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effect of steam curing regimes (SCRs) on high-strength green concrete (HSGC) incorporating ultrafine palm oil fuel ash (U-POFA) as a partial substitute for cement. The results showed that using a high volume of U-POFA in HSGC led to improved compressive strength, chloride resistance, and microstructure properties at different ages, with the enhancement being influenced by U-POFA replacement rates, temperature, and steam curing period.

Influence of steam curing regimes on the properties of ultrafine POFA-based high-strength green concrete

Abdullah M. Zeyad et al.

Summary: This study investigated the influence of steam curing regimes on high-strength green concrete containing varying quantities of ultra-fine palm oil fuel ash. The partial replacement of ordinary Portland cement with U-POFA was found to have positive impacts on both the compressive strength and microstructure of the concrete, especially in long-term properties. Steam curing at different temperatures and periods contributed to the strength development of the concrete, with significant improvements observed in specimens with higher U-POFA content.

Experimental and numerical investigations of the influence of partial replacement of coarse aggregates by plastic waste on the impact load

Mustafa M. Al-Tayeb et al.

Summary: Partial replacement of coarse aggregate by plastic waste in concrete enhances its impact resistance, with an increase in impact tup, inertial load, and bending load as the percentage of coarse aggregate replacement increases. However, the static peak bending load decreases in this scenario. The concrete with plastic waste is shown to be stronger and more energy-absorbing under impact loading compared to static loading, and the predicted load against displacement behavior matches well with experimental results for both ordinary concrete and concrete with plastic waste.
